Instagram has over 800 million active users. A good percentage of these users will be interested in a rental property throughout the year. When people are interested in renting an apartment or home, they usually follow accounts that show them what comes available, so they can jump on it. This is how you can attract more renters to your property.

About Instagram Stories

Instagram Stories is a stepsister of Snapchat. Images and short videos can be shared to a Story, and in 24 hours they disappear. These Stories will not appear on your profile grid or in the main feed.

People who follow your account will see the Story at the top of their Instagram feed. They can click on it to see the property that is available. It’s perfect for when you want to announce a new property is for rent, or even showcase one that has been available for a little longer than you really wanted.

How to Use It for Rental Properties

Simply take a picture of the rental property. Upload it to Instagram and then use the text option on Instagram to add information about it. You cannot put a lot of information on it, so capture the most attractive features of the property.

People can’t click on a phone number, email address, or any other way to contact you. This means putting your contact information the Story will not be a good use of the space. Instead, encourage people to reach out with a message on Instagram. They can simply click on your account name and then message you about the property.

Since Stories disappear after 24 hours, you will have to add new ones every day. You can have more than one, so if you want to put up a few at a time, that will work. It may be worth your while since it will give your followers more options.

Boosting Followers

The reach of Stories is limited to your followers. This means that you will need to work on gaining followers to get more people to see your Stories. The best way to do this is to follow and interact with people in your local area.

Search for people in the areas where your rental properties are, and then follow them. Go through your feed daily to like and comment on their posts, so they notice you. Most of the time, if people don’t follow you back because you followed them, they will when they interact with you.

Instagram is a social network. Just like any other social network, you need to be social on it. This means building a relationship with people on there.

As you build the number of people who are following you, it’s likely you’ll see the number of viewers for your Stories increase. Even if they do not need a rental in the near future, they may know someone who does, and they can recommend the properties you share on your Stories.

Start using Stories in combination with Instagram posts. It will significantly increase your exposure on the social network, so you can get your properties rented as quickly as possible.
